Stop Trying To Shoehorn The Young Guns Techniques Into Your Golf Game…
Have you heard of the X factor?
Not the annoying tv show…
The “X” factor in the golf swing.
It reared it’s ugly head several years back determining that to create power and consistency in a golf swing, you need to resist the lower body and rotate the upper body as much as possible.
Fiddlesticks!!
That has screwed up so many golfers. (Me included back in the day.)
Sorry for my little swear but I’m passionate about this.
And the BBC put together a great piece that discusses and shares the pitfalls of a swing like this on the backswing and the downswing too.
The spinal surgeons have been studying how the golf swing of present-day professionals, including Tiger Woods, differs from those of golf veterans, such as Jack Nicklaus and Ben Hogan.
I urge you to go and spend a couple of minutes and read it, then come back here.

Instead you must use a natural, powerful, consistent and common sense method that will revolutionize your golf game.
And I’ve got you covered!
KEY LESSON TO GET THE EFFORTLESS GOLF SWING MOVE
In this video I discuss and demonstrate the main keys you need to be aware of, reminded of or start doing to make ongoing strides for YOUR best golf swing that you can use as the foundation for years to come.
adding a video with 3-4 clips all related to the keys in list. HEAVY AND EASY DOES IT
Let Your Body Flow As It Needs To
EASY SET UP TWEAKS -The adjustments you make can make or break your swing. There are options but you must choose the one best for YOU.
HEAVY ARMS – This key is a game changer and when you get it right you will always be able to get a smooth foundation back.
DON’T RESIST THE HIPS – Allowing your body to move as it needs too with some tweaks and feels will give instant results.
As you get older, you may find that your golf swing isn’t what it used to be. You may not be able to hit the ball as far, or as accurately, as you once could. But there are some things you can do to improve your golf swing and keep playing the game you love.
Don’t try to hit the ball too hard.
You may not be able to generate the same club head speed that you could when you were younger, but that’s OK. Just focus on making contact with the ball in the sweet spot of the club face, and let the club do the work will give you the best distances and reduce injuries. Think smooth!Warm up and work on your mobility
As much as you can and especially make time before you play. As we age, our muscles become tighter and less flexible. That’s why it’s important and it will help loosen up your muscles and give you a fuller range of motion in your swing.
Use a lighter Or a heavier club.
If you’re finding it difficult to make solid contact with the ball, try using a lighter club. A lighter club will help increase your club head speed and make it easier to hit the ball in the sweet spot of the club face. This is not for everyone as many of my students do better with heavier clubs as it helps smooth everything out. Test this out if you can!Play with some golfers better and dare I say maybe younger than you.
It will help you raise your own game by association. Remember though, even if you may not be able to generate the same club head speed that you could when you were younger, that’s OK. Just focus on making contact with the ball in the sweet spot of the club face, and let the club do the work will give you the best distances and reduce injuries. Think smooth!Don’t neglect your short game.
As you get older, your driving distance can certainly decrease (We will always help to get more of it with effortless swing moves and feels though so don’t fret!) But that doesn’t mean you can’t still score well on each hole. By focusing on your short game—chipping, pitching, and putting—you can still shoot a good score, even if you’re not hitting the ball as far off the tee as you used to.Keep fit, healthy and as agile as you can.
Even if fitness is not your cup of tea, it’s an investment not just into your golf but into all facets of your life as the years roll on. Resistance training is a good way to avoid Osteoporosis as it helps bone density as we age. Mobility work and looking after your joints will help aging taking it’s toll too. We have Bulletproof Golfer Program in here which can suit a lot of you.Get fitted for clubs.
As we age , our bodies change , and that includes changes to our swings . That’s why it’s important to get fitted for clubs every few years , so that you’re using clubs that are properly suited for your current swing and game. It’s NOT about getting the latest tech that the companies claim add 20 yards etc.Have fun!
Remember , at the end of the day , golf is just a game . So don’t take it too seriously , and have fun out there. Stick to just 1-2 swing thoughts but primarily abstract challenges. Stay balanced, only hit fades, hit only 3/4 shots, center face strike is only objective etc. But enjoy the process and stay fluid. Oh and use the S.I.M.P.L.E Process!
Here’s Some of our resources that will make the effortless golf swing and strain free movement a goal for you.
AOSG COMMUNITY
In this segment we will be discussing members success and questions, swing reviews, news and more. This week we kick off (no pun intended) with questions about knees and the swing. Something we all need to be mindful of.
Question: Aged with knee replacements.
“Good morning Alex, I am in my early 60’s, and have had very limited golf over the last couple of years due to 2 total knee replacements, and recently my lead knee ( right handed )
I have also in the past lacked flexibility and tend to throw my body around during my golf swing. This has probably also been detrimental to my knees unfortunately. Do you think your swing instruction you use, would suit my age and knee condition?
I am desperate to get back and better at golf, but want something that’s as less stressful as possible for my knees.
Answer:
Hi David,
Yes I am confident that applying the easy on the body type of swing I advocate will be possible. But you need to be judge. Always be sensible with exercise and movements but we can be smart and effective when you know how.
You see allowing more flow in your swing will help greatly. The strain free series and senior swing series contain several lessons showing a less aggressive move. But also, looking at your set up will help you get through without exrra torque like flaring the lead foot out. Also, here’s a video from a colleague of mine in the past sharing some PT outlook on the swing.
*After he joined, David had some great success and after just a couple of months he sent this.
“Alex i know i’ve sent a few emails to you but I just wanted to say how much I have been enjoying golf and indeed the results! I’m not exactly hitting it 300 yards (yet) but I am seeing a lot of nice shots and importantly, I can play 18 and I feel very little in my knees or rest of my body. And here’s the thing, If I do, i know that i was forcing myself a bit too much and annoying the end results / round is never as good.
So when my body aches I know I need to go back to a couple of my favorite lessons. 1 in the senior program and a few in the strain free have been consistently effective for me. The arms glide in particular”.
Thank you. David M.

This is an example of finding principles that work for YOU. And more often than not, it’s not about positions or hard movements that require hundreds of balls a day…
